A warning about the chargers was issued on Thursday following over 50 reports of the power banks’ lithium-ion battery overheating and catching fire.



Some people even got hurt from the overheating batteries with six minor burn injuries reported. The name of the recalled device is the Casely Power Pods 5000mAh portable MagSafe wireless phone charger.It has the model number E33A printed on the back.

The recalled chargers were sold on Casely’s website, Amazon and other sites from March 2022 until September 2024. They came in multiple colors and prints and sold for between $30 and $70. A notice of the recall shared by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission warned consumers to immediately stop using the charger and get a free replacement through Casely.

If you have a recalled charger, you can go to Casely’s website and fill out a form to get a replacement. Consumers were told to promptly get rid of the recalled chargers, but warned that there is a certain way to dispose of the products safely. Lithium-ion batteries cannot simply be thrown into your garbage bin, your recycling bin or even into used battery recycling boxes that you may have seen at retail and home improvement stores.

These batteries are different than other batteries because they pose a greater risk of catching fire. The recall notice states that consumers’ municipal household hazardous waste collection center may accept the lithium-ion batteries.But make sure to call your center beforehand to make sure they accept the batteries.
