Woman arrested for allegedly poisoning 65-year-old man to death in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old woman, Mrs. Adeola Adewale, for allegedly poisoning and killing a 65-year-old man, Mr. Adebayo, in a service apartment located in the Abule-Egba area of the state.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident occurred on March 27, 2025, when Adeola and Mr. Adebayo checked into a service apartment together. Shortly after, Adeola left the premises with the victim’s car and personal belongings, informing the housekeeper she would be returning shortly.



However, during a routine inspection the following day, Mr. Adebayo’s lifeless body was discovered in the apartment. Investigators at the scene recovered an empty syringe, two empty cans of malt drink, and two bottles of water.

The body was moved to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) mortuary for autopsy while police launched an investigation into the matter. Following an intensive manhunt, operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) arrested Adeola on April 26, 2025, around 9:30 p.m.

in the Oko-Oba area of Lagos. During interrogation, she confessed to lacing a malt drink with a poisonous substance, leading to Mr. Adebayo’s death.

Further investigations confirmed the identity of the deceased as Mr. Adebayo. Police say Adeola remains in custody while efforts continue to uncover more details about the incident.

In his reaction, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting residents and warned that anyone engaging in criminal acts will be apprehended and prosecuted..
