In their article, British publication BBC News described Nora as one of the “Philippines' most celebrated film stars," as the news agency Associated Press (AP) referred to the National Artist as one “Philippines’ biggest stars” in their story and cited her contributions in the Philippine Entertainment Industry, which CNN. UK-based publication The Independent also paid homage to the actress whom they called a “most revered figure in the Philippine film,” while the Gulf News , an English language newspaper in Dubai also wrote on the death of “the legendary actress leaves behind a legacy of groundbreaking films, music, and cultural milestones.

” British tabloid paper Daily Mail also took time to remember the “Filipino movie icon” and shared some of Nora’s best moments in her career, while Pakistani newspaper Express Tribune joined the tribute to Nora whom they described as a “legendary actress,” and “one of the most recognised figures in Philippine entertainment.” Tributes from Filipino celebrities such as Vilma Santos and Dingdong Dantes , quickly poured on social media shortly after Nora 's passing was announced by her children. She died on Wednesday at the age of 71.



Nora’s daughters, Lotlot and Matet also paid homage to their mom on social media, as her granddaughter, Janine Gutierrez, also took time to honor her late grandmother in a heartfelt post on Instagram. Dubbed the Superstar, Nora was named a National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts in 2022. She was known for her iconic roles in the films "Himala," "Bona," and "Minsa'y Isang Gamu-gamo.

" Her last films include "Mananambal," where she starred with Bianca Umali , and "Pieta," where she starred with Alfred Vargas . Last year, she appeared in the GMA Afternoon Prime series "Lilet Matias: Attorney-at-Law," starring Jo Berry . The two of them previously worked together in the 2018 Kapuso series "Onanay.
