29.In an email to fans, the WWE said tickets will go on sale later.“We are beyond excited to host WWE’s ‘Survivor Series’ at Petco Park in partnershipwith the San Diego Tourism Authority,” said Padres CEO Erik Greupner, in a statement, adding that the club looks “forward to welcoming WWE’s incredible talent and passionatefanbase” to the downtown ballpark.
The television announcement included views of Petco. The email called PetcoPark “America’s number one ballpark,” in reference to a top ranking last year by USA Today.The WWE announcement went on to say that Petco will be the first stadium to host the“Survivor Series” and that this will be the first major WWE event held in San Diegosince 2008.
The San Diego Sports Arena hosted the “One Night Stand” event 17 years ago.San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria called the event “a huge win for our city, our residents and our local economy – thousands of fans will travel here and experience everything that America’s Finest City has to offer. With the best stadium in the country and a passionate wrestling fan base, we’re ready to make this ‘Survivor Series’ one to remember.
”WWE hasn’t announced the card for November yet, but two popular WWE wrestlers, Rey Mysterio and his son, Dominik Mysterio, both have lived in San Diego. The elder Mysterio made the WWE Hall of Fame two years ago.The announcement of the fall event came just one day after the WWE’a biggest event, “Wrestlemania.
