A YOUNG man has died in hospital after being seriously injured in a late-night stabbing in Youghal, Co Cork last night. It is understood that the 32-year-old was attacked near a bar on North Main Street shortly before 10pm last night. Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene within minutes of the incident and the man was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
He was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. A man, aged in his 20s, has since been arrested in connection with the incident. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Co Cork.
A number of scenes have been cordoned off and are being preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course..
