Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap Announce Separation

Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal says she & husband Parupalli Kashyap are no longer a coupleIndian Champion badminton player Saina Nehwal has revealed she and husband Parupalli Kashyap have decided not to be together any longer, after close to seven years of marriage.

 

On Sunday evening, Saina posted a message on social media announcing the move. The announcement was unexpected to many in the world of sports.

In a caption on her Instagram post, Saina wrote that often life situations make people travel in separate ways. She said following a lot of thought, both she and Kashyap had agreed on the decision to part, pursuing peace, growth, and healing for themselves.

Saina also thanked everyone for their support and sought privacy in this difficult phase.The two popular shuttlers had tied the knot in December 2018, after several years of friendship and training together.

How Training Partners Became Olympic Icons
Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap have also trained at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad in their formative years. Saina made her mark when she clinched the BWF World Junior Championships in 2008.

That year, she also represented India at the Olympics for the first time, reaching the quarterfinals, making her the first Indian woman to do so in an Olympic badminton tournament.

Attained such as winning the 2012 Olympics bronze medal and becoming the first Indian female badminton player to attain the world No. 1 ranking. She was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2009 and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2010.

Kashyap's Memorable Career Moments
Parupalli Kashyap also enjoyed a successful career, while he also won a gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He was the first Indian male shuttler in 32 years to win CWG gold.

Kashyap made the quarterfinals in Olympic badminton in 2012, the first Indian man to do so. His highest world ranking was No. 6 in 2013.
It's been a raucous journey as compatriots under the sporting spectrum, but they have now parted ways, personally that is as Saina and Kashyap will now focus on their respective growth in peace from each other's shadow.
