Lenovo Legion R27qe review Philippines: Bang-for-the-buck is the operative word for Lenovo’s impressive 27-inch monitor. It packs an impressive punch despite retailing for less than Php 15K in the Philippines.ProsGreat price for the featuresGood color reproduction180Hz refresh rateHDR capableConsViewing angles could be betterNot that brightHorrible controlsIt’s wild to me how much value Lenovo’s Legion R27qe provide gamers.
This 1440p, 27-inch IPS panel packs quite a punch and has a feature set that you’d typically associate with more expensive models. And while it certainly isn’t perfect, it’s a great looking monitor for anyone looking to get the most bang for their buck at the under Php 15K price range.Lenovo Legion R27qe Review Philippines: DesignUnlike other monitors out there that’s of the gaming persuasion, the 27-inch Lenovo Legion R27qe uses a more sedate, industrial design that is more in line with Tito’s current taste than what’s being offered by the competition.
There’s no wild LED strips or crazy futuristic design cues here – just very basic, very elegant, and dare I say it – very boring – stand that uses a V-shape with an intersecting line at the middle to prop it up.Despite its more subdued design, the Legion R27qe has tilt, height and pivot functionality. You usually get one or the other in this price range, but not all three at the same time, which was a nice surprise.
There’s a standard selection of ports and plugs for HDMI and DisplayPort. It’s a little annoying to get to them (especially if you’re doing it by feel) but that’s just the price you pay to for a monitor like this. One thing that I absolutely hate is the 5-button system for navigation.
I absolutely detest this, and while you can get used to it, I prefer the easier to use navigation joystick that other brands use.Lenovo Legion R27qe Review Philippines: FeaturesFor a monitor with a low price, the Lenovo Legion R27qe is packed with a lot of features. For one thing it boasts a refresh rate of 180Hz, which is fairly important if you’re the type of person that spends all day playing competitive FPS games.
It also boasts a 0.5ms GtG response time, which is again, a feature that a lot of competitive gamers look for. There’s also DisplayHDR 400 certification and VESA Certified Adaptive Sync as well as AMD’s FreeSync present.
There’s no NVIDIA G-Sync, which is just as well since that’s one feature that usually drives up the price of monitors.Lenovo Legion R27qe Review Philippines: Performance and image qualityThe monitor uses an IPS panel, which delivers quite surprising results despite not using mini LEDs. The display’s color gamut was around 99% sRGB and 90% DCI-P3, which was quite good considering the price.
My current addiction is the fantastic Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and the monitor shines in displaying the dark, gloomy, and very depressing environment of the continent. Even in brighter games like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the monitor still performed well as I traversed the relatively desolate planet of Koboh. The biggest thing that I noticed, especially since I just came from a super expensive display that the panel wasn’t as bright as it topped out at just 495 nits, but then again we’re comparing a very expensive OLED panel that’s like 6-7 times the price VS an LED 1440p monitor.
Viewing angles could also be a little better, but since I’m almost always looking at the monitor straight on, that wasn’t too much of a problem.Lenovo Legion R27qe Review Philippines: verdict and wrap-upDespite some small complaints, I’m very happy with the performance of this monitor. It punches way above its weight class in both features and performance, and while it’s more plain-looking than other gaming monitors, I quite like its muted aesthetic.
If your wallet’s exhausted after your build, you might want to take a look at this 27-inch monitor to top it all off.Lenovo Legion R27qe Review Philippines: price and availabilityThe Lenovo Legion R27qe is priced at Php 14,995..
