Ludhiana: The district's rural police have arrested a Tarn Taran man accused of assaulting a farmer at Latala village on April 11, an attack linked to a complaint the victim's daughter had filed in Scotland against the attacker's brother. The FIR was filed on Monday, following the arrest of one of the suspects. The arrested individual, Robanpreet Singh , is from Bhoona Kona village in Tarn Taran district, who had returned from Dubai recently.

Police have also named his brother, Jobanpreet Singh, who is in Scotland currently, as a co-accused, along with several unidentified accomplices. The FIR (first-information report) was lodged based on a complaint from Harpreet Singh, a farmer from Latala. Sub-inspector Gurdeep Singh, investigating officer of this case at Jodhan police station, said the incident had occurred at 1.

40 am on April 11, when Robanpreet along with five dagger-wielding henchmen had barged into Harpreet Singh's home, assaulted the farmer, vandalised his property, and demanded that he force his daughter, Simran Kaur, to withdraw a police complaint she had filed against Jobanpreet Singh in Scotland. Farmer Harpreet Singh claims that in Scotland, his daughter, Simran, and her friend had been living in a rented apartment owned by Jobanpreet. After a dispute, the two women had vacated the property and moved elsewhere.

In retaliation, Jobanpreet had allegedly began harassing them, prompting the women to file a police complaint against him. The cops claim that it was on Jobanpreet's instructions that Robanpreet and his accomplices targeted Harpreet's family. As a result, the local police have also charged Jobanpreet Singh under various sections, including house trespass, rioting, criminal intimidation, and conspiracy.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to search for the remaining suspects. MSID:: 120733549 413 |.
