New volleyball facilities have been installed on a popular East Coast beach.

New volleyball facilities have been installed on Lowestoft's South Beach. And set to serve up a treat for the summer, the sun-drenched sands now feature competition grade beach volleyball courts on the east coast. This Saturday, April 26 Level Up Beach Volleyball will launch in Lowestoft.

An East Suffolk Council spokesman said: "Come along to Lowestoft's South Beach on Saturday (10.30am-2.30pm) for the official opening of our new volleyball facilities!" Rich Flynn, founder and Head Coach at Level Up Beach Volleyball, will be leading a open day to showcase the new beach courts on April 26, followed by weekly training sessions from May 3.

"Making sport accessible for people in Lowestoft has always been a passion of mine.

"I used to get so annoyed walking past beaches across Europe where you’d always see volleyball nets and free kit – but never here. That changes now. George King with the BoxUp locker at Normanston Park in Lowestoft.

"Just like BoxUp, it’s all about making it easy to get active and have fun – no barriers, just pick up and play." Cllr King thanked Rachel Tucker at East Suffolk Council, the brilliant beach team at East Suffolk, the Northern Parishes Community Partnership & East Suffolk Communities Team and Level Up Beach Volleyball for all their efforts in "helping make this happen".

He added: "Come along, give it a go.".
