The Punjab Cabinet has approved the launch of a ‘Ration Card Scheme’ aimed at providing financial relief to 1.5 million workers and laborers across the province. The initiative, approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore, will offer monthly assistance of Rs.

10,000 to eligible individuals. In the same meeting, the Cabinet also endorsed key policy amendments to strengthen governance and service delivery. These include changes to the Food Grains Licensing Control Order, 1957, mandating flour mills to procure at least 25% of their wheat locally.



Additionally, amendments to the Punjab Consumer Protection Act 2005 were approved, empowering Additional Session Judges to act as Consumer Court authorities. Separately, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially launched Pakistan’s first SMART Environment Protection Force, marking a significant step in tackling environmental issues through technology. Announced on April 21 via her social media platform 'X', the Chief Minister described the initiative as a “milestone in Punjab’s journey toward environmental improvement.
