A 43-year-old Thomson man died Thursday while fleeing authorities serving a search warrant in a homicide investigation. Devicco LaTroy Moss, in his blue Chevrolet Silverado truck, collided with a tractor-trailer in the tiny Anthony Crossroads community at the intersection of Ridge Road and U.S.
Highway 78, the GBI announced in a news release. Mario Clemons, 42, was found dead about 9 p.m.

On the case: McDuffie County man, 42, shot to death Moss sped away Thursday as the GBI, the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and the Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division executed a search warrant at his home in the 100 block of Faubus Street in Thomson. During the chase, a MCCD officer crashed on Wrightsboro Road and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, the GBI said.
