A long-term fan of the sheer trend, Florence Pugh is staying loyal to lingerie-inspired looks. In a powder pink Dolce & Gabbana corset and trench coat combination, the “Thunderbolts” star took a night off the press circuit to debut this romantic look.

If awards season 2025 taught us anything, it’s that lingerie-inspired fashion isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. From sheer gowns at the Oscars to all the corseted looks on the red carpet (and beyond the Hollywood ceremonies, Sabrina Carpenter’s pin-up-inspired Short n’ Sweet tour wardrobe), underwear as outerwear is a trend all of our favourite A-listers continue to embrace. One noted fan of lingerie dressing? Florence Pugh.

Never one to opt for the straightforward option, Florence took a break from the Thunderbolts press circuit to enjoy a night out in a subversive spin on balletcore, debuting a sheer corset and trench coat combination, courtesy of Dolce & Gabbana. Though she skipped the iconic – if divisive – cone bra, the corsetry had distinct echoes of Madonna’s famous bustier , with Flo opting for a slightly softer, more romantic take. Paired with satin pumps with a dainty bow, Florence’s layered look offered a toned down interpretation of the sheer trend that’s been dominating the runways at Chloé , Valentino and Dilara Findikoglu this season.

Still, this isn’t Florence’s first rodeo, the star has an impressive track record with subversive and skin-baring looks. Most recently, she showed her underwear-as-outerwear loyalties in a lace-panelled Stella McCartney minidress , and who can forget the sheer red Valentino gown she wore at the 2024 Golden Globes, two years after going viral for speaking out against the comments she received for the diaphanous Barbie-pink number she wore for Valentino’s couture show in Rome ? Leaning into the powder-pink shade of the moment, Florence’s ballerina-esque ensemble, topped off with slicked-back hair, was an expert blend of romantic, sexy and ever so slightly subversive style..
