In an interview with Julius Babao, Legaspi was asked about his relationship with Barretto, whom he has not seen or communicated with for many years now.
“Frustration, konti lang naman. More on nanghihinayang ako sa panahon. Nanghihinayang ako sa oras, sa panahon.
.. Nanghihinayang ako sa mga panahon na nasaktan siya [na] dapat hindi nangyari,” he said.
“I’m sure kung close kami, I am sure [na] may mga pinagdaanan [siya] sa buhay, [sana] nagabayan ko ‘yan kasi iba ang prinsipyo ng nanay, iba ang prinsipyo ng tatay,” he continued. (I feel slightly frustrated. For me, it’s more of the moments lost.
I feel regret over the lost time and moments when I could have been there for her when she was hurt and it shouldn’t have happened. I’m sure that if we were close, and she was going through something. I could have helped guide her through it because the perspectives of a mother and father are different.
) The actor also confessed that he stopped reaching out to Dani “a long time ago” and left their possible reconciliation up to God. “Paano naman tayo magkikita, hinahabol kita, tumatakbo kang papalayo?” he said. “Hinahabol kita, nagtatago ka.
Hindi tayo magkikita. So, pinasa-Diyos ko na lang lahat. Sabi ko na basta ako, nandito lang.
‘Yun lang naman ako.” (How can we see each other? I’ve been chasing you but you’re running away? I’ve been chasing you but you’re hiding. We haven’t seen each other.
This is why I left it all up to God. I will always be here for her. That’s it.
) Despite not being in contact with his daughter, Legaspi said that his love for the latter will always remain while extending his willingness to meet up with her. “Kapag gusto mo akong kausapin, gusto mong magkita [tayo], nandito lang ako. At the end of the day, when it’s all said and done, laging mananaig ‘yung pag-ibig at malasakit ng isang ama sa kanyang anak,” he said.
(If you want to talk to me and you want to meet, I’m here for you. At the end of the day, when it’s all said and done, the love and concern of the father toward his child should remain.) Legaspi was also asked to give his comment on the ongoing spat between Marjorie and her ex-husband Dennis Padilla.

Ang maibibigay ko na lang ay prayers...
base sa na-experience ko sa kanya at nakita, si Dennis mabuting tao (With the events happening to them, honestly, I can’t help with their problem. That’s their problem. What I can give is prayers.
Based on what I experienced and saw in Dennis, he is a good man),” he said. He also thanked Padilla for taking good care of Dani when he was still with Marjorie and he treated Dani like one of his own..
