A big UK supermarket chain has announced a big price cut to a popular meal deal. Asda will be cutting the price of their "Kids Eat for £1" meal deal down to 60p to celebrate the store's 60th birthday. The deal will be running throughout the month of May and will be available in over 205 Asda Cafe's with over nine different meals to choose from.
The popular deal was introduced in June 2022 to offer kids under 16 a hot meal for a low price. Over nine different meals are on offer including penne pasta with meatballs, chicken nuggets, fish fingers and margherita pizza. Their alternative to hot food – a £1 pick and mix selection including a sandwich, drink and piece of fruit – will also drop to 60p for the month. Since introducing the deal, the store says that they've sold over six million of them – with weekly sales peaking at 40,000 during the school holidays. “We know families face financial pressures when it comes feeding their children, not just during the school holidays, but all year round. “We've served over six million meals since we first launched the initiative in 2022, proving what a lifeline it is to families across the UK, so I’m delighted that we can drop the price to 60p this May and hope to reduce some of that pressure even further.”.
