Three arrested for assaulting & robbing vehicle mechanic at his garage

Pune: The Chikhali police on Thursday arrested three men on charge of assaulting and robbing a vehicle mechanic of Rs5,000 on April 29 when the victim was at his garage. The police identified the trio as Datta Sonawane (25), Navnath Chormale (19) and Dnyaneshwar Devkate (18) from Chikhali. "The trio approached the victim and requested him to transfer Rs2,000 online and offered to pay him the amount in cash.

After the victim transferred the money online, the trio claimed they did not receive it and forced the victim to transfer Rs2,000 again," an officer from the Chikhali police said. "When the victim asked them to return his Rs4,000, the trio snatched Rs1,000 from him.



When the victim started resisting, the trio assaulted him with iron rods. One of them even bit the victim on his hand," he said. The officer said when the victim's brother rushed to help, the suspects assaulted him too.

"However, before they could escape, other shopowners gathered and nabbed them," the officer said..
