Next to the snaps, Meghan penned: “Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today, she entered our lives --- and every day is happier and better because of it. “Thank you to everyone who has sent her love and made her feel special today!”
While Meghan tends to share pictures of her daughter with her face hidden out of view to shield her privacy, the new picture shows Lilibet’s eyes and part of her forehead, with them being partially covered by Meghan’s arms.
A Special Place in the Family
Princess Lilibet, who was born on 4 June 2021, is the second child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. She was born a year after her parents stepped back from their roles as senior working members of the royal family and moved to the United States.
When her grandfather ascended the throne, she officially became a princess. The couple also have a six-year-old son, Prince Archie.
Lilibet was inspired by her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. The nickname “Lilibet” originated in childhood, when the future queen — as a toddler — had difficulty pronouncing her own name. Her grandfather, King George V, affectionate started calling her by the name, which was picked up within the royal family.
Looking to the Future
Most recently Meghan teased the possibility of one day launching a business with her daughter. When she appeared on a podcast, she said: “I wonder if one day I’ll be in business with Lili and we’ll be building something.” To which her host replied, to great acclaim, “The best.”
As recently as last week, Meghan had also posted a video of her and Lilibet beekeeping together in full protecting suits. “Like mother like daughter; my gloves even fit her,” she wrote as a caption.
Those shared moments can make Meghan and her daughter's close relationship and joyous benchmarks that they cheer on as a family.
