A lively contest to find a Pedro Pascal look-alike drew a crowd this past weekend at Son del North, a restaurant in Brooklyn. The competition concluded with George Gountas, a lighting designer on “The Daily Show,” being named the winner. Gountas, who has been on the show since 2017 and is a two-time Emmy nominee, was praised for his uncanny resemblance to the “Last of Us” actor.

The incident saw Gountas awarded $50 and a year’s worth of free burritos from the eatery and was reportedly promoted on the restaurant’s social media page. Gountas, a father of two, lives in Brooklyn and explained that seeing the event flyer made his family and co-workers push him to join the fun.

A man named Tyler, who was a stage manager, told Gountas about the contest, he shared. His wife immediately signed him up, and even their neighbor, a stylist and art director, offered him some finishing touches. Gountas brought his wife and kids with him to the event, which he deemed “unbelievable” with so many people around and a good vibe.

His fellow correspondents on “The Daily Show” were ecstatic about his win. “Everyone’s super supportive,” he said, and the whole experience is “pretty insane.”

Celebrity Doppelganger ContestsSoars to the head.
There are celeb impersonator contests that are becoming more popular.” Earlier this year, a Timothée Chalamet look-alike contest went viral, with the winning doppelgänger appearing in a promo for “Saturday Night Live.” Besides stars like Jeremy Allen White and Paul Mescal, similar events throughout have tended to go viral on social media.

Some of these doppelgängers have even scored brand partnerships and media hits. As of Monday afternoon, Pedro Pascal had not publicly weighed in on the Brooklyn contest — but the Internet’s favorite “daddy” does tend to be a bit elusive, and post-Father’s Day, the beloved “daddy” of the web might be taking some deserved time off.
