Letter: Are Democrats wanting an insurrection?

I remember the old times (six months ago), when people who protested a president would have been called "election deniers" and "insurrectionists," mostly by the same people who are protesting now.

I remember the old times (six months ago), when people who protested a president would have been called "election deniers" and "insurrectionists," mostly by the same people who are protesting now. I get it, and I don’t care that people protest, or how much people want to protest, as long as it doesn’t turn "mostly peaceful." So you all want Donald Trump out of office.

OK. I’m curious about something, though. Let’s say you all get your wish, and Mr.

Trump is removed. You all ARE aware that there’s a line of succession should a president be incapable or is removed? Next in succession, the Vice President, JD Vance. Probably runs things the same as Mr.

Trump. Want him gone? Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. Republican.

Ditto. Next? President pro tempore of the Senate, Chuck Grassley. Republican.

After that, the various Cabinet Secretaries in order of creation. Yep, you guessed it, all Republican, except RFK Jr., from Alpha Centauri.

After that, I think the thought was that the next leader would be the local warlord of the wastelands. That line of succession, oddly, does not include putting, say, Bernie Sanders’ or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s name in a hat 400 times, and picking a name out of the hat to be the next President. Sorry, left/Democrats/protestors.

Really, if you’re that concerned about erasing Trump and every "mean old conservative" from being in higher office, it kind of sounds to me like there’d need to be an insurrection. John Crist Rock Island Get opinion pieces, letters and editorials sent directly to your inbox weekly!.
