A White House spokesperson confirmed that Coristine's government email had been shut off by Tuesday afternoon and his name had been removed from internal contact lists. He had already served there officially as a Senior Advisor at the GS-15 level in the General Services Administration since May 31, 2025.
His Background and Access are Controversial
In his short time on the job, Coristine sat in on multiple high-level government meetings, including a meeting on May 5 with the Commerce Department about Donald Trump's "golden visa" initiative and a meeting with the Treasury Department on May 22. It's this bold branding that caught Elon Musk's eye and factored into his DOGE campaign appointment, he says.
The nickname went national when host Jesse Watters brought it up during a Fox News segment, asking DOGE staff, "Who is Big Balls?" Coristine rose and said, "I am," prompting laughter and Musk's retort: "That ought to be."
Now, with his sudden resignation, questions are bubbling up about his vetting process, as well as over the broader role of unorthodox hires in sensitive positions in government.
