The South Australian Premier, Peter Malinauskas, has confirmed both deaths and indicated that a number of other injured persons were located near the crash site as well. The aircraft involved in this incident was identified as a Diamond DA42 twin propeller model; its maximum capacity of four persons is identified by the manufacturer.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau will conduct an official investigation into the cause of this accident. Local police have advised that all required evacuations around the crash site were completed so that emergency services could respond to the incident safely.
Parafield Airport released a statement acknowledging that this was a significant accident, and they have been fully cooperative with the emergency services that are managing this incident on behalf of the Australian Government. The fire within the hangar has been fully extinguished; however, Parwa Bceflies has closed as a result of this crash and ongoing emergency services response at the site.
The Premier extended his thoughts and condolences to the families of those who have died in this, along with others affected by a tragic accident.
Parafield Airport is one of Australia's busiest airports (in terms of overall aircraft movement), primarily serving as a light aircraft operations and flying training facility. Unfortunately, this is not the first incident at this airport in recent times.
